Within 30 days of moving to Florida you must obtain a Florida license
plate if:
- You are employed here.
- Your children attend school in the state.
- You claim a homestead exemption.
- You register to vote in the state.
License Plate
The cost of a license plate is determined by the weight of your car,
and the plate is renewable annually during your birth month. In
Plant City, you may obtain a Florida license plate at the Tax Collector's

Driver’s License
If you are a new resident, you must obtain a Florida driver’s
license once you have secured employment, claimed a homestead exemption,
registered to vote, or enrolled children in school. To obtain a
Florida license, a driver with a valid out-of-state license must pass
a written exam and vision and hearing tests. In Plant City, you

Occupational License
To open a business, you must obtain an occupational license from both the City of Plant City and Hillsborough County. Applying to the city first—City Hall, 302 West Reynolds Street – will ensure that the building to be used is properly zoned and located within the city limits. Voter Registration
You must be 18 years of age and be a permanent resident of the state
of Florida to register to vote. Registration must be 30 days prior
