South Florida Baptist Hospital (SFBH), one of BayCare Health System’s 10 hospitals, is a 147-bed acute care facility that provides a full range of diagnostic, surgical, therapeutic, women’s and rehabilitative services, and serves Plant City and surrounding areas as a non-denominational, not-for-profit community hospital.

Serving Plant City and eastern Hillsborough County since 1953, SFBH continues its forward-thinking commitment to improve and grow with the community. In 2006, the hospital opened the Jim and Ruby Jean Redman Emergency Center, the largest and most advanced in eastern Hillsborough County. That year also marked the beginning of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital at SFBH, bringing the well-respected expertise of the children’s hospital directly to Plant City. Other recent advancements include the Swindle Diagnostic Center’s ultrasound suite, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, and an orthopedic unit that includes, in addition to necessary recovery and rehabilitation resources, an internet and media café, complete with orthopedic ergonomic furniture, computers, and televisions. Since 1997, the hospital’s roving Wellness on Wheels unit has visited remote locations to provide health screenings, educational services, and immunizations.

Medical and Hospital Facilities
The 147-bed South Florida Baptist Hospital serves Plant City and East Hillsborough County.  The not-for-profit hospital is well staffed and offers the most up to date diagnostic equipment available.

CT scans, MRI, PET/CT, a SPECT nuclear camera, sonography, mammography, cardiac stress testing, and transesophageal echocardiography assist physicians and surgeons with their healing work.  Faster healing and recovery times are the result of laser and laproscopic techniques available at the hospital.

South Florida Baptist Hospital also offers a Bone & Joint Reconstructive Center, a Heartburn Treatment Center, and a new Rehabilitation Services Outpatient Center located at the Walden Lake Medical Arts Center.

From pediatric care to intensive care and progressive care units, the hospital can provide for any medical need or emergency.  The hospital has a Family Center for Childbirth, a state-of-the-art Surgery Center, and has opened a $10 million expansion of the Emergency Department.
