Public Transportation

The City of Plant City is currently offering fixed route transit service Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Four separate routes are served with two vehicles purchased by the City.  The buses operate on a one-hour schedule, with stops at popular destinations such as employment centers, service agencies, shopping centers, grocery stores, banks, restaurants, medical centers, schools, and residences along the routes.

Additional services include paratransit services for individuals with disabilities that prevent them from using the regular fixed-route service; group trips for ten or more passengers to local destinations such as shopping centers, restaurants, parks, recreation centers, and educational and governmental facilities; and a demand-response shuttle service that provides enhanced connectivity of local residential areas with employment centers, schools, or offices where individuals have appointments.  The on-demand and group transit services are offered citywide and pickups may be scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  For additional information or to schedule rides, call 659-4200, extension 4139.

Plant City Fire Rescue (PCFR) has forty-one full time career personnel who provide both fire and emergency medical response twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  To provide the quickest possible emergency response to all areas of the City, these highly trained professionals operate from two fire stations, one at 604 East Alexander Street and the other at 809 North Alexander Street.  PCFR provides basic and advanced life support medical transport service for the City.  During a medical emergency, PCFR is in direct communication with the Emergency Room Medical Director at South Florida Baptist Hospital (SFBH).  For level two trauma cases, transport can be provided to Lakeland Regional Trauma Center, and level one trauma cases can be taken to Tampa General Hospital.

In addition to daily emergency service, PCFR offers a variety of programs to the community, including monthly CPR/AED classes, first-aid training classes, fire extinguisher training classes, business and home safety inspections, fire safety educational programs for schools, and blood-pressure screenings.  PCFR personnel also make public appearances to show equipment, and a Citizen Ride Along Program is available to the community.  The department is currently developing a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program for training citizens to assist emergency responders in times of disaster.
